Assessment of the power quality in electrical networks
Get an overview of the technical terms, theoretical principles and guidelines behind the term "power quality".
You will also get an overview of the possible causes and effects of power quality problems and how to eliminate them.
In addition, you will learn in a didactic and practical way what you have to pay attention to when performing a power quality measurement, especially when measuring harmonics and interharmonics (from the measuring point to the evaluation of the data).
As far as the evaluation of the measurement data is concerned, you will receive a first working tool, which you can use for the evaluation of the data and the creation of reports, by means of ready-made Excel templates, which will be made available to the participants.
Your motivation
It is a well-known fact that the electrical power supply from low voltage to extra high voltage is subject to a number of changes nowadays. These changes are strongly related to an increase of power electronic equipment (LEA) in the grid, which can lead to the degradation of the power quality. For this reason, gaining expertise in power quality is essential for many companies.
- Are you involved in projects related to power electronic equipment (drives, wind turbines, photovoltaic systems, HVDC, SVC, etc.) and do you have any points of contact with the topic of power quality?
- Do you find it difficult to understand which standards and guidelines apply to your field of activity?
- Are you looking for a training course that will teach you how to carry out an expert power quality assessment in a compact and clear form?
Then this training is the right choice for you!
Aims of the training
- You will be familiarized with the terminology as well as the theoretical basics of power quality.
- You will be able to look through the applicable standards and guidelines. Furthermore, you will get a first introduction to the most common standards and guidelines (IEC 61-000-4-30, IEC 61-000-4-7, IEC 61-000-3-6, EN 50160).
- Get a good understanding of the role of instrument transformers or sensors in relation to power quality measurement through practical measurements and also learn how to characterize the frequency-dependent transformation ratio of transformers and sensors through appropriate measurement techniques.
- Acquire knowledge of common commercially available power quality measurement devices at both the hardware and software levels and their technical specifications.
- Be able to perform a power quality measurement. Be able to prepare the measurement setup properly. All necessary parameterizations of the measuring device can be carried out successfully.
- Independently perform the basic evaluations necessary to prepare a report of a measurement of harmonics and interharmonics.
